Though Norwich is already a very attractive destination for property investors, there are several improvements planned for the next few years that are set to make the city truly irresistible to homebuyers and professional investors alike. From making Norwich more accessible to London to creating jobs in the local area, this East Anglian city is going to see some big changes in the coming year.
This is great news for investors thinking of putting their money in Norwich. Ongoing improvements show a continued commitment to the area, proving both businesses and the government have confidence in the city’s potential. If you’re currently living in Norwich or are considering investing in the city, take a look at this list of planned improvements to the area.
Dualling the A11
In its 2010/2015 manifesto, the coalition Government announced major investment in the country’s roads. One route that is currently benefitting from the available funds is the A11 to Norwich. Now complete, the road is England’s newest expressway and provides the first ever dual carriageway link to Norfolk. By significantly cutting travel time to Norwich, this crucial improvement will make the city much more attractive to investors, commuters and anyone who wants fast and efficient links to the capital.
Further investment in the transport network
As well as widening the A11, there are plans to improve roads across the region. In 2015, the Government set out plans to invest £2 billion in roads across the East of England. One of the main roads to benefit will be the A47 in Norfolk. Sections of the road will be turned into dual carriageway and crucial junctions will be improved along its length to make access to the area even easier.
Though there are no firm plans yet, calls are growing for Norwich to become a garden city and to double in size in the coming years. Politicians, architects and urban planners have come up with the idea to help the city develop and grow, allowing it to accommodate its expanding population and transforming it into a centre of investment and economic strength in the East of England. If and when this plan will be put into action though, is still uncertain.
